Lots of people and industries are suffering as a result of the drought in the Murray Darling Basin. Houseboat’s are one of the last industries that can still make a living from the water that is left in the River. This may be the last time we get to play on houseboats for some time if there is no rain in the River next year. I think that this is yet another example of how a healthy environment supports a vibrant economy. Environmental flows benefit all users of the River, not just the environment, but they are seen by some as a “waste” of water.
